      AAA attends SocialCamp

      Picture
AAA and event creator, Civil Alliance representatives
      23.07.2010

In 23-25 of July, 2010 Astana hosted SocialCamp organized by Civil Alliance of Kazakhstan. AAA attended the event.

Public organizations from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan got together in Eurasian National University to build communication, discuss common issues and share experience. There were a lot of information, interesting and useful e.g. fundraising issues (how to find money for NGO?)  and New Media in Kazakhstan (NGO & Kaznet). It might be noted that SocialCamp had such active participants as blog-platform YVision and the Pirate party of Kazakhstan – the Pirate Parties International  representatives. Astana Alumni Association built friendship with colleagues, had some coffee and attended a few sessions.

      Wise Wiki informs:
      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BarCamp

BarCamp is an international network of user-generated conferences (or unconferences). They are open, participatory workshop-events, whose content is provided by participants. The first BarCamps focused on early-stage web applications, and were related to open source technologies, social protocols, and open data formats. The format has also been used for a variety of other topics, including public transit, health care, and political organizing. The name BarCamp is a playful allusion to the event's origins, with reference to the hacker slang term, foobar: BarCamp arose as a spin-off of Foo Camp, an annual invitation-only participant driven conference hosted by open source publishing luminary Tim O'Reilly. The first BarCamp was held in Palo Alto, California, from August 19–21, 2005, in the offices of Socialtext. It was organized in less than one week, from concept to event, with 200 attendees.
